The winter months can sometimes feel dreary and make it hard to stay active. But it can also be a time of renewal and recommitment to your wellbeing! Winter is a great season to focus on your health, reflect on what you achieved, and build your Pilates practice. Let’s have a look at a few ways that will help you maintain your Pilates practices!
Remember the Feeling
Think back to when you first started Pilates. Were you energized to move your body in new ways? Did you feel lighter, toner, and healthier after a workout? Hang onto these feelings! Being consistent in our Pilates is less about willpower and more about embracing our bodies. In winter, when it may feel “easier” to stay indoors, remember the feeling and empowerment you get with Pilates and head to Firehaus instead!
Plan with Purpose
You’ve put in the time and effort on strengthening your body and working toward your goal weight. Keep going! Use the winter months to further reach your goals by staying committed to your Pilates practice. As you pencil in holiday parties and dinners, also make time to schedule in your Pilates time. Seeing your workout schedule on the calendar, along with festivities, will keep you focused and feeling good!
Supplement your Sport
Whether you ski, snowboard, snowshoe or cross country, Pilates is the ideal exercise complement! Winter sports can take a toll on your joints and risk injury. Your Pilates workouts have helped strengthen your core, stabilize your joints, and improve your balance. Maintaining your Pilates practice will see you through the season safely.
Spring Goals
Maybe you’ve been planning for a beach vacation, a marathon or a family reunion? Make Pilates practice part of achieving these goals! Pilates will keep you healthy, fit, and strong as you look forward to getting in that swimsuit or working through a training plan. Share your goals with your Firehaus Pilates instructor to fine-tune your practice through the winter season!
Home Sweet Home
When the days are dark, and the snow is falling, create a backup plan where you can do Pilates at home. Talk to your instructor about establishing a workout of home exercises that will make it easier to keep your Pilates practice going, no matter the weather. There are many adapted exercises and simple props you can use at home, and your Firehaus Pilates instructor can help!
Staying consistent with our exercise during wintertime is a challenge, no doubt about it. But, as with most successful achievements, consistency is king! Consider your Firehaus Pilates practice an integral part of your life, and you may just find yourself not wanting to stop!
